Haiti Relief
Royal Oak is proud to participate in providing earthquake relief for the children of Haiti through ‘Lunch Bags for Haiti’. The goal is for every classroom on Vancouver Island to package 10 large sized zip lock bags of supplies for the children. Supply lists have been given to the classroom teachers, posted on the website (under Parent/Student Resources), and available in the holder outside the office. Your donations are vital to the relief efforts and we can let the Haitian children know that they are not alone in this emergency. Donate as much or as little as you can - financial donations are also accepted.
FSA - Foundation Skills Assessment
The Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA) (www.bced.gov.bc.ca/assessment/fsa/) will be given to grade 7 students throughout the province from January 25 to February 12. FSA is a set of tests in reading, writing and numeracy that measure important skills set out in BC Curriculum.
Parents will find FSA 'Information for Parents' (http://www.bced.gov.bc...nfo/welcome.htm) a useful introduction. This new online resource includes key facts, sample questions and tests, tips on preparing students, and a rundown of what to expect.
