ROMS COPACS INFORMATION

COPACS is an acronym for the Confederation of Parents' Advisory Councils of Saanich. This organization is the umbrella group of all the PACs in Saanich school district.

The website is: http://copacs.sd63.bc.ca/

It hosts monthly meetings on the first Thursday of every month and are located usually at the Saanich District Resource Centre (DRC) at 6842 Central Saanich Road, Saanichton or schools in our district. In attendance at these meetings are the district Superintendent, Board of Education Trustees, representatives from PACs of schools in the district and the COPACs executive.

COPACS strives to:

  • -Foster communication and cooperation between parents/guardians, school district staff and elected trustees.
  • -Exercise leadership in developing and expressing collective parental views as identified through Parent Advisory Councils.
  • -Inform and education parents/guardians about key issues affecting students in our district and in the public education system in general.
  • -Provide a venue for PACs to discuss issues and to find solutions from other schools in the district and to provide a venue for PACs to share their successes with other PACs in the district.

ROMS PAC executive includes a representative for COPACs.

This executive position offers the opportunity to learn about district wide issues and innovations as a result of Ministry of Education legislative changes.  Also, a greater understanding of district operations and curricular options is gained by attending these meetings.

The ROMS COPACS representative would be required to attend the monthly COPACs meetings and then share any information with ROMS PAC.
